building Democratic Majorities

across utah

Utah deserves a future where every voter has a choice and every community has a voice. Majorities Matter is committed to empowering Democratic candidates across the state, ensuring they have the resources to compete and win.

By supporting candidates from the moment they file to the final days of their campaigns, we’re going to reshape the playing field.

With a strategic focus on competitive races and a commitment to funding benchmarks, we’re building a stronger, more representative democracy in Utah, one race at a time.

A two prong strategy to build a Democratic Majority in Utah:

Show up everywhere

For far too long, countless statehouse races in Utah have gone uncontested, leaving voters without a choice and communities without a voice. Too many Democrats in these districts have felt abandoned, ignored, and forgotten, while Republican nominees coast to victory unchallenged.

It doesn’t have to be this way. Together, we can ensure that no Democratic candidate in Utah is left without the support they need to get on the ballot, that every Utah voter has a real choice in every election, and that no Republican runs unopposed.

Fund Competitive candidates

Utah’s most promising Democratic candidates often face uphill battles without the resources to fully compete. In districts where the right campaign could turn the tide, candidates are left underfunded, and critical opportunities are lost. But just throwing money at a race isn’t enough — successful campaigns require strategy, effort, and accountability.

That’s why we take a smarter approach. We don’t just fund competitive candidates - we ensure they’re meeting key benchmarks, like building strong grassroots networks, engaging with voters, and running data-driven campaigns. By investing in candidates who put in the work, we maximize every dollar and give Utah Democrats the tools they need to win.

Why give money to every candidate?

Running Nominees Matters

Studies have how that having a candidate on the ballot for state legislature increases the vote share for the top of the ticket, but in 2024, 6 of 15 State Senate districts and 25 of 75 State House races did not have a candidate file.

Utah won’t elect a Democrat statewide if one out of every three Utahns doesn’t even have the option to vote for a Democrat for state house.

Why we’re so committed to Utah

Utah is changing, and fast. It’s the youngest and fastest growing state in the union. With fair maps arriving in 2026 or 2028 and a likely fifth congressional district arriving after the 2030 census, Utah has the potential to be the next swing state in a decade - but only if we put in the work now. We are committed to growing Democratic power in Utah, and we believe the first step is giving voters a choice and communities a voice.

  • Fairly drawn districts: 2026 or 2028

  • Fifth Congressional district: 2032

  • Fastest growing state

 FAQs

  • We fund every Democratic candidate who makes it through the primary system. Majorities Matter PAC does not fund Independent, Unaffiliated, or third party candidates.

  • No. We love the UDP and support the efforts their work, but we do not coordinate with them. Our goal is to end the Republican political monopoly and to elect more Democrats in Utah.

  • Fundraising is one of the toughest, and most detested, parts of running for office. It’s even worse for nominees who are in challenging, conservative districts. Eliminating the fundraising barrier means more people are willing to run, which makes recruitment much easier.
