Inspired by groups like Blue Ohio, Majorities Matter was founded by a group of former Utah Democratic Party staffers who saw a need in the state. We know that Utah has the potential to be the next swing state and we want to make sure that Democratic candidates get the support they need.

Thom DeSirant
Thom is a former Utah Democratic Party Executive Director and currently serves on the Millcreek City Council. He served as the Executive Director between 2022 and 2024 after running and consulting on dozens of successful races between 2016 and 2021. During his tenure, Thom oversaw Utah’s first statewide coordinated campaign in eight years, implemented comprehensive candidate training programs, and ran the largest paid GOTV program in the party’s history.

Shayla Frierich
Shayla brings a wealth of political experience to Majorities Matter PAC, including her role as a field organizer for the Utah Democratic Party. She has served as President of the Young Democrats of Oregon and Western Regional Policy and Advocacy Director for Young Democrats of America, where she honed her skills in campaign strategy and advocacy. With a focus on building Democratic strength, Shayla's leadership drives impactful change in Utah politics.

Ben Anderson
Ben is a lifelong Utahn and political communications professional who is passionate about flipping the Beehive State blue. As the former Communications Director for the Utah Democratic Party who has experience on campaigns from the statewide to the local level, he understands the importance of building long-term infrastructure to support candidates and create a Democratic majority in Utah.
